Based on David Allen’s "Getting Things Done" (GTD) methodology, this template is a system for productivity that was desgined under the following principles: Simplicity and Clarity.
At its core, GTD is about developing a mental framework that allows you to stop carrying around tasks in your head and instead organize them in an external system, freeing up mental bandwidth to focus on doing rather than remembering.
The goal here is to be as simple as possible, so that this template really helps you and does not add further complexity.
Everyone knows it - a thought comes up "Ah sheet, i still have to do this", "Well, that would be cool", et cetera. This, over a longer period of time, clutters your mind. Just drop them here and examine them later on. Let your brain focus on solving problems and being creative.
Once a week, collect all accumulated materials, empty your head and get your inbox to zero. Review all actionable items. Be creative and think long-term. Reflect on your learnings.
Outsource your thoughts into your digital inbox. If it’s not actionable, either file it as reference material or discard it. If it is actionable, you define the next step to move forward.
Automatic daily Habits in your Today Inbox. Give actionable items a definitive date where you execute them via drag and drop.
Prioritize your tasks and habits by category for the day, plan ahead for tomorrow or even next week. The goal is to create a system where you know what needs to be done, but more importantly, where you don’t have to think about what to do next—because it’s already decided.
